Trial
Judges are limited to 8 hours of judging and a maximum run value, which will require this club to limit entries accordingly. Fawn Kovach will judge all classes. Day of Show Entries will be accepted if the trial is not already full. Late or DOS entry additional fee of $5.00 per run. Late and/or Day of Show entries are not a guaranteed entry and will be accepted only up to Judging limits. Confirmations will not be sent for late entries. Judge of Record and Event Official dogs may be judged prior to the official start time or as the first or last blind(s) of the event.

We do not accept emailed or paper entries.

Classes offered: Instinct, Novice, Open, Senior and Master. There are two trials per day.
Schedule (SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
7:30am – Facility opens (please do not arrive prior to 7:30am)

The schedule is fluid throughout each day. No special considerations will be made to accommodate other activities outside of the trial.

All entries must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fees and be received prior to the day/time of closing to be considered valid.
Move Ups: Lateral and class move-ups will be allowed both days
NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS
By entering this event, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport, and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely. Entry fees will not be refunded if a dog is absent, disqualified, excused, or barred from competition by action of the show committee. Children of any age are eligible to handle a dog in a Barn Hunt trial if they can control the animal before, during, and after the hunt. However, the parent or guardian must always remain on the premises with any child under the age of 16. It is expressly understood that participants alone are responsible for the behavior of their dog(s). Any participant whose dog(s) creates an unnecessary disturbance or repeatedly engages in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the event committee, be asked to leave the event site. In such case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. Rocket City Ratters (RCR) will assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by participants or spectators, or to any of their dogs or property. RCR reserves the right to decline entries for cause and may remove any dog(s) for aggression. No one shall have any recourse or claim against the RCR or any official thereof. No entry fee will be refunded if the trial cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the organizing committee. Exhibitors are responsible for complete, accurate, and legible information on the entry forms; illegible or incomplete entries cannot be entered in the show. PLEASE COME PREPARED FOR WEATHER and check on your dogs regularly! It could be hot, rainy, windy, etc. Don't forget water and cool gear for your dog(s) in case of extreme heat.
Administrative Reminders: If you provide your email address, we will acknowledge receipt of your entry via email within a few days. If you do not receive an initial confirmation within one week of mailing your entry, contact the Trial Secretary. Check your confirmations, errors must be reported no later than the move-up deadline. Secretary is not responsible for errors not brought to her attention. Please double-check your entry form and remember to sign the Release Form. A $30.00 service charge will be added for any returned checks and must be paid via cash, money order or cashier's check. Payment via cash, personal check, money order, or cashier's check made payable to Rocket City Ratters is also acceptable. Checks will be cashed after closing.
EXHIBITOR INFORMATION
Dogs must be leashed or crated when not actively working. Please pick up after your dog and dispose of waste in appropriate containers outside the building.
Awards: A flat brown qualifying ribbon will be awarded for all qualifiers in the regular classes. A Special Ribbon will be awarded to all Instinct Qualifiers. Rosettes will be awarded for first through fourth place in Novice through Master. Title ribbons will also be provided. High In Class for both A and B divisions will be provided. Ribbons are self-service and labels will be provided.
Barn Hunt Grounds: This encompasses the entire Rocket City Ratters trial property (763 Smith Vasser Road, Harvest, AL).
Ring Information/Location: All classes will be indoors under cover inside a barn. The flooring is concrete. The rings will be enclosed with barn walls and 4’ x 8’ lattice fencing.
Blind: Area is 10’ x 16’ under cover adjacent to the barn. All levels except Master will have 5 dogs per blind. Master will have between 4 and 5 dogs per blind.
Safety: At all times, the safety of dogs, handlers, and rats is to be of paramount importance. Rats will be humanely handled and safety confined in aerated PVC tubes; Barn Hunt is not intended to harm or kill rats. Any dog that is sick, injured or lame will be excused from the trial grounds.
Crating: Crating will be in vehicles for this event. There are shaded areas to crate and some space in a second barn.
- Exercise your dog responsibly. Please pick up after your dog at the trial site and hotels. Any exhibitor failing to do so may be excused without benefit of refund if the event committee deems the exhibitor to be in violation of this requirement, according to BHA regulations. All dogs must be on a maximum 6’ leash (except while hunting) and be under control while on the grounds.
- At no time will dogs be tied out or otherwise left attached to something other than a human; specifically, leaving your dog(s) tied to an unattended chair or in an open crate is not allowed.
- Accommodations will be made for handlers with multiple dogs. Dogs being handled by the same person must be separated into different blinds. Final Class order will be published in the confirmation letter.
- Exhibitors not attending the General/Judge’s briefings will still be responsible for knowing the information provided in these briefings
Leashes and Collars: Flexi-leads are forbidden inside the buildings. Electronic collars/devices and head halters are not allowed.
Collars in the Ring: Dogs may not be brought to the gate in any disallowed collar or on a Flexi-lead. Dogs MUST run “naked,” without a collar/harness. Dogs should be brought to the ring with collars/harnesses which can be easily and quickly removed and replaced.
Bitches in Season: Are eligible for entry but will be required to be kept separate from all other dogs and will run at the end of their class/trial. Entry fees for bitches that come into season will be
refunded until the closing time if you wish to withdraw. If bringing a bitch in season, please inform the trial secretary prior to the trial.
Loud/Disruptive dogs: Please keep dog barking in the crating, blind, and ring areas to a minimum so as not to disturb other exhibitors. Any dog behaving in a threatening or aggressive manner toward another dog or a person may be dismissed from the trial. In this case, no refund of any fees paid will be made.
Withdrawals: Withdrawals after the closing date will NOT be refunded.
Refunds: No refund of Pre-Entries after the closing date. No event fees will be refunded if the event cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, and act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the event committee. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, excused, or barred from competition by action of the Event Committee.

Volunteers: As with all events volunteer support is needed and appreciated.
Food Service: There will be no food for exhibitors at this trial. Drinks will be provided for workers. We will take a scheduled lunch break.

Barking Dogs/Aggressive Dogs: Please keep dog barking in the ring area to a minimum so as not to disturb other exhibitors. Any dog behaving in a threatening or aggressive manner toward another dog or person may be dismissed from the event once a formal committee hearing is conducted. In such case, no refund will be given.

Blind: The blind is located under cover adjacent to the barn and is approximately 10’ X 16’. Instinct/Novice will have 6 dogs per blind. Open/Senior will have 5. Master will have 4-5 dogs per blind. Handlers are expected to be in or near the blind area so they can get into the blind as soon as the last dog in the blind enters the ring. We will not hold up a blind unless a handler was working in the ring. We ask that handlers not work the ring before their blind unless we are desperate for help.
Safety: At all times, the safety of the dogs, handlers, and rats is to be of paramount importance. Rats will be humanely handled and safety confined in aerated PVC tubes; Barn Hunt is not intended to harm or kill rats.

Bitches in season: Are eligible for entry but will be required to be kept separate from all other dogs and will be run at the end of their class/trial. We will designate a BIS parking area. If bringing a bitch in season, please inform the trial secretary prior to the trial and inform all exhibitors at the general briefing. Bitches in Season will be run in a separate blind at the end of class entered. Remember your dog must wear panties at all times at the show site (except when being taken out to potty.) We will direct you to your crating and potty area, please come to the secretary’s table before unloading your dog. Thank you! Entry fees for bitches that come into season will be refunded until closing date of the trial if you wish to withdraw.
